- Introduction & Background
Liberty Walk was founded in Nagoya, Japan in 1993 by Wataru Kato, starting as a modest custom car workshop. The brand's philosophy is deeply shaped by Kato-san, embodying a rebellious and freedom-seeking spirit in automotive customization that departs from standard factory specifications.
Liberty Walk gained international recognition when Kato-san decided to modify his own Lamborghini Murcielago using a bandsaw, which resulted in the addition of bold, bolt-on wide fenders and an exceptionally low suspension setup. Following the Murcielago, Kato-san applied his avant-garde design philosophy to the iconic Nissan GT-R, thus establishing a distinctive subculture.
In contrast to the LB-WORKS body kit, the LB-Silhouette WORKS GT 35GT-RR signifies the most extreme and premium widebody conversion, taking cues from Japan's renowned "Silhouette Racers" of the 1980s. Instead of utilizing a bolt-on exposed-rivet design, the LB-Silhouette features a more streamlined, race-car-inspired full panel replacement that substitutes the exterior sheet metal, with the exception of the roof and doors.
